Stoyan Design has specified Cougar Opaque for the Quiksilver annual report for three consecutive years. Anticipating costly handwork for bindery, they had to balance the printing budget without compromising print quality, and Cougar Opaque (text and cover weights) was their choice.

According to Stoyan Design, the combination of UV inks and the Staccato printing technique on Cougar Opaque yielded results far beyond their expections, and "They expected a lot," says designer David Wooters.

Production included Staccato printing using UV inks, 4-color process, and solids with single hits of PMS 485 red and PMS 877 metallic silver, plus dot-for-dot spot dull varnish over ink areas. The lay-flat binding and unique flat-sheet-to-chipboard cover enhance the piece. According to Brad Greenamyer, account executive at ColorGraphics, "Cougar Opaque gave a stellar performance portraying the magnificent photography and rich, vibrant colors found in this annual report. For designers and printers, the 2003 Quiksilver annual report is definitely a collector's item."
