Ecobank expands into 'middle Africa'

The Ecobank Group has continued its expansion into "middle Africa" with the opening of a subsidiary in Pointe Noire, Congo-Brazzaville. It has also acquired a majority interest in Loita Bank, Malawi. Loita Bank has been a longstanding provider of financial services, specialising in structured finance and trade finance services in Malawi.
In December 2007, Ecobank agreed a $75m loan from the European Investment Bank to help it with its expansion in Africa.
