CUES AND WESCORP ANNOUNCE FINANCE & ECONOMICS INSTITUTE
Credit Union Management, May 2006
EXECUTIVE EDUCATION
CUES recently announced a new addition to its family of executive education offerings, to be held Oct. 8-13, 2006, at the R. David Thomas Executive Conference Center at the Fuqua School of Business on the campus of Duke University in Durham, N.C. The Executive Finance & Economics Institute is being developed as a joint venture between CUES and WesCorp, San Dimas, Calif., through Duke Corporate Education and the London School of Economics. Curriculum will focus on finance and economics-including an in-depth exploration of globalization, financial markets, evaluating business models and more.
"We live in a global community, meaning domestic and international markets are all interrelated and influenced by one another," says WesCorp EVP/Chief Investment Officer Bob Burrell, in explaining how he hopes the institute will open doors to a new level of understanding among credit union officials.
"The more a credit union leader can understand and make sense of the global marketplace and the financial markets," he adds, "the more successful that leader will be in setting the right course and managing the performance of a credit union."
"We couldn't find finer partners in executive education than Duke Corporate Education and the London School of Economics," said Linda Stemper-Johnson, CAE, CMP, CUES' SVP/chief operations officer when she announced the institute to attendees at CUES Symposium: A CEO/Chairman Exchange in February. "We're thrilled that our members will have access to their exceptional faculty and to Duke's premier educational environment."
