Credit Union Management,  Mar 2008

LESSONS FROM APPLE, EVERYTHING INCLUDED

A decade ago, Apple nearly went out of business. Today, with the unprecedented success of its iMacs, iPods and iPhones, it ranks among the most powerful brands in the world. How did Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs turn his company around? What lessons can we learn from Apple? Daniel Lyons, tech columnist at Forbes and creator of The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs, has followed the company's rise more closely than most. Lyons will draw on his solid business and technology reporting background to identify the keys to Apple's success, and will suggest ways to apply Apple's experience to the credit union environment at the 2008 CUES Annual Convention, to be held June 22-25 at The Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort in Cancun, Mexico.

This gathering will provide credit union leaders with an opportunity to dedicate time to two important facets of their life: education and family. As volunteers and executives who devote valuable time on behalf of their credit unions, convention participants will gain insight on governance and supervisory responsibilities as well as new ideas for membership and revenue growth.

Equally important, attendees will have the opportunity to combine work and play at the Moon Palace, an all-inclusive resort. Virtually everything is included in the nightly room cost-all meals, including room service, beautiful facilities with lagoon-style pools, and dozens of entertainment activities-all alongside the beautiful Caribbean coast.

Among the other session topics are "What is Your Value Proposition?" "Questions Supervisory Committees Should Be Asking," "Keys to Successful Technology Governance," and "Structuring a Dynamic Executive Benefit Program-A New Vision."

The investment is $845 for CUES and CUES director members and $1,195 for non-members. Learn more about the conference and register at cues.org/annualconvention/.

Please remember that passports are required for travel to and from the U.S.
