RightThing to create 114 jobs in Findlay, The
Toledo Business Journal, Jul 01, 2006
The RightThing, Inc., an end-to-end provider of recruitment process outsourcing (RPO), is investing $3.6 million in a business expansion project in Findlay, Ohio. The plan includes moving its headquarters to a 43,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility and the projection of an additional 114 jobs over three years. The move to the new location is expected to take place in the fall.
The project includes the acquisition of an existing building, which was constructed in 2002 and occupied by Microsoft Corporation until the end of 2004. The facility remains fully furnished with some key pieces of equipment. The acquisition price includes all fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
The Ohio Tax Credit Authority reviewed The RightThing's expansion plan and the company was awarded financial assistance, including a tax credit worth 20 percent for seven years. The value of the tax credit is $306,076 over the term, and the company will be required to maintain operations at the project site for 14 years.
The Job Creation Tax Credit was a major factor in the company's decision to expand in the State of Ohio, according to the Ohio Department of Development. The tax credit was necessary to reduce project costs in the State of Ohio, enabling the City of Findlay facility to remain cost competitive and offset start-up costs incurred during this process. The company considered the State of Indiana as an alternative site location for this project.
Additionally, The RightThing has been working with the City of Findlay to gain additional funding and has been given a $45,000 technology grant to assist in the development of the company's new headquarters.
"This is exactly the type of local entrepreneurship that will take this city from good to great," stated Findlay Mayor Anthony P. Iriti.
The RightThing's expansion plan cites the company's commitment to retain its current 150 positions and create 94 full time and 30 part time jobs over three years. Additionally, the tax credit will be used to assist in moving the company's headquarters to a much larger facility located in Findlay on Technology Drive.
"The RightThing was founded on a few basic principles: commitment, trust, loyalty, and doing the right thing," stated Terry Terhark, president and founder of The RightThing. "I value these things in myself and in our employees and I find that there is no other place that fosters this type of culture than in the City of Findlay or the State of Ohio." Terhark added that the assistance of the Findlay-Hancock Chamber of Commerce, its Community Development Foundation, and Mayor Iriti were crucial in the award of both the tax credit and the technology grant.
As a result of The RightThing's move to its new headquarters, Hancock County has committed to improving County Road 99.
"The cooperative effort of the schools, townships, and county in 1996 resulted in a TIF project to build the Connecter Road from I-75 to the east part of Findlay," stated Hancock County commissioner Dr. Emily Walton. "This year we are improving CR99, west of I-75, which will be the completion of that project. [The RightThing's project] reinforces how important infrastructure is when business and industry are looking for a site."
"Our existing, local companies are the critical base of our economy and I am pleased to be able to work With the city, county, and state to assist them in growing their investment and jobs in Findlay / Hancock County," stated Russell N. Our goal is to continue the growth of our local economy and we applaud The RightThing for expanding their investment thus providing more job opportunities in our community."
