For the second consecutive year, Blue Spruce Technologies leads our annual list of companies to watch. But we're hardly the only one taking notice of this thriving company Blue Spruce Technologies ranked 43rd on Entrepreneur magazine's Hot 100 list in 2006. "One of the things that contributed to our growth was hiring the right engineers. We saw a return on our investment," says Vice President Christopher Flagg. The company diversified its base of strategic partners and more than doubled its number of customers in 2006, It has also exceeded projected yearto-date revenues for 2007.

Blue Spruce provides security consulting services and solutions that include authentication services, secure quest access, trusted end-point computing, and security product integration. "The mar ket has evolved. There are better known technologies that are in line with our core competencies," says Vice President Bob Durkee.

Blue Spruce isn't the only successful company that President Steve Pettit, Flagg and Durkee are guiding. Their other venture, Great Bay Software in Greenland, develops software focused on facilitating network-based authentication and secure network access. Great Bay signed a worldwide OEM agreement with Cisco in July that adds Great Bay's Beacon Endpoint Profiler solution to Cisco's Network Admission Control product line. "We're focused on growth of both organizations [Blue Spruce and Great Bay], but Great Bay has a more aggressive growth plan," Pettit says.
