Pilot Plant Agreement Advances Fischer Tropsch Technology

FT Solutions LLC (Denver, CO), a joint venture between Rentech, Inc. (Denver, CO; www.rentechinc.com) and Headwaters Technology Innovation (HTI; South Jordan, UT; www.htigrp.com), is completing the preliminary design of a FischerTropsch (FT) gas-to-liquids (GTL) pilot plant capable of producing up to 10 bbl/d of liquid hydrocarbon products that can be tested by industrial end users.
The pilot plant, to be located at the Gas Technology Institute's (GTI) coal gasification test facility in Des Plaines, IL, will utilize the iron-based catalysts of Rentech and HTI. Startup is slated for the third quarter of 2005.
