Abelson-Taylor taps Blocki to lead DTP

Medical Marketing and Media, Mar 2005 by Krisanits, Tracy

ABELSON-TAYLOR has set up a full-scale division for direct-to-patient (DTP) programs.

Richard Blocki was named account director of the new department, where he will be responsible for developing consumer-oriented campaigns.

He will work with creative director Scott Hansen and report to Jay Carter, senior vice president of the agency. The new unit has a staff of 12.

Abelson-Taylor currently handles professional work for MGl Pharma's Aloxi, and the new unit is handling the DTP for the brand.

"Bringing Richard Blocki aboard is like adding 20 years of consumer experience to the agency," said Carter, who added that Abelson-Taylor had been expanding its DTP capabilities for several months.

Blocki spent eight years running his own agency, R. Blocki & Associates, where he primarily worked on consumer marketing and advertising. He also did some work for Abelson-Taylor as a consultant.

"A lot of Abelson-Taylor's current clients are asking about DTP and DTP capabilities," said Blocki, who stressed that the agency plans to capitalize on integrating both professional and DTP work for brands within the same agency.-T.K.
