Vestar acquires MediMedia USA

Medical Marketing and Media, Nov 2006 by Arnold, Matthew

MEDIMEDIA USA has changed hands as a private equity consortium. Ciniven, Apax Partners and The Carlyle Group agreed to sell the publisher to New York-based Vestar Capital Partners for just under 500 million euros ($634 million), including debt assumed.

The consortium, which bought the firm from Vivendi in 2002, was advised by Goldman Sachs, and said it made 3.2 times its original equity investment of 250 million euros ($316 million). Vestar was advised by DeSilva & Phillips.

Headquartered in Chatham, NJ, MediMedia boasts 1,400 employees managing its titles, patient education and health management programs. -MA
