Schering-Plough's "49 Plan," an aggressive seven-week sales push allegedly aimed at shoring up Zetia prescriptions by offering docs meals and entertainment, came under congressional scrutiny after it was reported on by the StarLedger blog Pharmalot.
The FDA made deputy commissioner Janet Woodcock permanent director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research following a national search to fill the slot. Woodcock, who stepped in as acting director of the center following Stephen Galson's elevation to surgeon general last fall, previously headed CDER from 1994-2005.
