Long-haul truck drivers can now enjoy XM satellite radio

Fleet Equipment, Jan/Feb 2003

TERK Technologies Corp. presents two XM Satellite Radio antennas made specifically so that long-haul truck drivers can enjoy XM's 101 channels of music, news, sports and talk programming. Truckers can choose from either a mirror-mounted or a clip-mounted solution, each designed and engineered by TERK to receive satellite radio signals while meeting the needs of long-haul trucks. The two antennas add to TERK's award-winning line of satellite digital audio radio antennas.

The rugged, weather-resistant design for both antennas has been tested and approved to stand up to the most severe weather conditions and survive the high-vibration road environment that truckers face daily. Both antennas perform with dual-mode functionality, receiving simultaneous signals from satellites and terrestrial repeaters to ensure coast-to-coast continuous reception.

TERK's clip-mount antenna (XM4CLIP) features a ground-plane independent design that installs onto and behind a truck's air dam, shield or flap. The design allows for the antenna to be in perfect line-ofsight to the XM satellites, yet out of sight to the eye and unexposed to potentially damaging wind and trees. The XM-CLIP includes a preassembled, flange-mount clamp that attaches to the chosen area of the truck, 30 ft. of low-loss, coaxial cable and cable management accessories to assist in cable routing.
