Lectra and Stork launch new printing solution

Asian Textile Business, Jul 2002

Lectra and Stork launched a new digital fabric printing solution at JIAM 2002. Developed in strategic partnership with Stork, this new solution combines software, hardware and services to extend creation and short production runs of all types of printed fabrics.

This solution introduces on the market innovative concepts through customized products and photographic quality prints with a wide range of printed colors. The new printer sapphire, developed by Stork, makes it possible to print a 10-sq. meter fabric per hour on average and up to 32 sq. meters per hour to the maximum. More productive than technologies previously developed for prototyping, the new printer makes it possible to process a wide range of fabrics and print on fabrics of up to 7-mm thickness.

The printer uses two types of inks, acid and reactive. Acid inks are used for printing on nylon and spandex, and reactive inks are reserved for natural fibers such as cotton, viscose or silk. Both inks are available simultaneously on the printer through separate circuits. This feature makes it possible to alternate inks as desired, without any handling or cleaning of printer.
