DyStar India Pvt. Ltd. has recently launched a new plant in Gujarat. This new plant is producing mainly reactive dyes and some auxiliary products and pigments for the local market. Together with the acquisition of Texanlab textile institute in Thane, the new plant is another step forward for DyStar India towards strengthening and expanding its activities in India.
According to Bart van Kuijk, Managing Director of DyStar India, 2007 was overall a strong year, and the company succeeded in increasing its business. However, this achievement was not a very easy task, as the rapid strengthening of the Indian rupee caused some textile mills to slash their production in the middle of the year. Fortunately, the impact of these setbacks was comparatively less for DyStar India than what hit the Indian textile industry, as textile dyes and chemicals are not the major part of garment costs, accounting for 3-5% at the most.
In addition to the main core business of textile dyes, DyStar India offers a wide range of auxiliaries as a support to its dye business, CSI as a color communication tool, and "Expert Solutions" consultancy to textile mills, and testing solutions are provided by three laboratories in Delhi, Mumbai and Coimbatore While looking over such extensive activities, van Kuijk is also responsible for business operations in the entire South Asian region including Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, not to mention India.
This year, DyStar India is consolidating its operations. Major tasks include the start-up of the new plant, integrating Texanlab into the DyStar network, and expanding the leather business that was taken over from Boehme.
Moreover, it will focus on offering Expert Solutions to provide experienced consultancy in all areas of coloration and finishing technology. Managing Director van Kuijk say, "DyStar is endeavoring to become a total solution provider, because in the textile chain, time is important,...
