Alexander Forbes insures land speed record attempt

Insurance Brokers' Monthly and Insurance Adviser, Jul 2006

Alexander Forbes is the insurance broker for the latest attempt to break the British land speed record on 7 - 9 July at Fairford. Colin Fallows and Mark Newby will try to beat their previous record of 300.3 mph. Two jet dragsters will be used in the attempt - 'Vampire' and 'Split second'. Newby will then change vehicles to the electric 'e = motion' car in an attempt to break the UK land speed record for electric cars, previously set at 139mph by Don Wales in his 'Bluebird' car.

Paul Buckle, sales and marketing director of Alexander Forbes Motor Sports Risk Services says, "This is a unique opportunity and as the vehicles will be travelling at such fast speeds the event carries an increased risk of the unknown, making it even more challenging."
