The Northern Producer, the floating production installation located on the Talisman-operated Galley Field, is managed by Petrofac, which provides the onshore and offshore operations team and facilities engineering support. Magic Instinct Software, Nantes, France, contract awarded (terms not provided) to fit seismic research ships with a transponder-based vessel-tracking system for securing prospect zones and increasing safety during an operation being conducted in India with national oil company ONGC. Lockheed Martin Sippican Inc., Marion, Mass., and Granite State Manufacturing, Manchester, N.H., $14.9 million contract award to manufacture the MK 30 MOD 2 antisubmarine warfare (ASW) target system. The contract includes an initial delivery of three MK 30 MOD 2 vehicles and associated support systems, with an option for additional targets and support through 2012. MK 30 targets are used on acoustic tracking ranges for crew training of ASWcapable surface ships, submarines, fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. (United States Navy)

Subsea 7, Aberdeen, Scotland, $12 million contract award for work associated with the Schiehallion infill and Foinaven water injection pipelay projects off the West of Shetland in England. Water depths for the project range from 395 to 455 meters, and the scope of work for Schiehallion and Foinaven includes the engineering, procurement, transportation, installation and testing of both a 10-inch narrowband production pipeline and a 10-inch narrowband water injection pipeline, respectively. VT Group, Southampton, England, £30 million contract award for a new offshore patrol vessel (OPV). Weighing in at 1,850 tons, the new OPV will have a crew of 34 and be armed with a single 30-millimeter gun. She will carry out patrol duties around the Falkland Islands and their dependencies, and is scheduled to enter service in 2007. (United Kingdom Ministry of Defence)

Kongsberg Maritime, Horten, Norway, contract awarded (terms not provided) for an advanced full-mission diesel electric engine room simulator. The installation will feature desktop and high-end operational simulation with BigView display technology, a new large-screen software-based interactive mimic display. The installation is due to be completed later this month and will be covered by an extensive five-year system support program. (Haugesund Maritime College)

Atlas Elektronik, Bremen, Germany, $730,000 contract award for installation of vessel traffic services facilities covering new cross-sea ferry links between Yantai and Dalian, China, via the Bohai Straits in the northeast sector of the country. Designed for monitoring and control of all coastal shipping traffic within the region, the new facilities comprise a dual Atlas 9760 X-band radar sited on Zhifu Island and a main control center at Yantai, which will be connected to an existing network at Dalian. The Peak Group, Aberdeen, Scotland, contract awarded (terms not provided) for the planning and management of three gas wells in the East Irish Sea. The work consists of one development well on the Dalton Field, followed by two exploration wells on the Asland and Kelly prospects. The Peak Group will deliver a complete well project management service, including detailed well and test design, tendering and contracting for all services, and execution of the drilling program. NavCom Technology, Torrance, Calif., contract awarded (terms not provided) in conjunction with AXYS Technologies and ITS Corp. to develop a real-time kinematic StarFire global positioning system (GPS) buoy system. In addition to increased accuracies, these buoys will reduce the need of installing land-referenced tide gauges. (United States Naval Oceanographic Office)

Keppel FELS, Singapore, $85 million contract award to upgrade the semi-submersible rig Ocean Endeavor. Ocean Endeavor will be capable of drilling down to 35,000 feet and will be fully outfitted for 8,000-foot moored operations, with design capabilities to operate in up to 10,000 feet of water. In addition, the rig will accommodate up to 140 personnel, over 6,000 tons of operating variable deck load and increased usable deck space. (Diamond Offshore)
