Circle Acquires American Friction Welding Technology Company

Sea Technology, May 2006

Circle Technical Services (Aberdeen, Scotland) recently announced that it has acquired the trading assets of Ramstud USA Inc. (Marietta, Georgia).

David Dent, managing director of Circle, said, "The acquisition of Ramstud is a very exciting and significant development for Circle. It will open new markets for us in both the United States and Europe, and will further strengthen our offshore friction welding business. We will be able to utilize Ramstud's market knowledge to build onshore opportunities in Europe and beyond."

The U.S. business will be transferred from Marietta to Circle's existing base in Houma, Louisiana. At the same time, Circle says that it will re-brand its friction welding division under the Ramstud name.

Ramstud's current directors are transferring across to the new Ramstud Inc. Ray Steel will become Ramstud's general manager, assuming worldwide responsibility for surface and sub-surface applications. Ian Grey will provide technical support on a consultancy basis.
