Sperry Marine Upgrades Marine Electronics Repair Capabilities

Sea Technology, Feb 2008

The Sperry Marine {Charlottesville, Virginia) North American Support Center in Harvey, Louisiana, is now authorized to perform Level III repair and calibration of Hatteland Display AS (Nedre Vats, Norway) flat-screen monitors for electronic chart display and information systems (ECDISs).

The Level III certification means that the facility can now perform ECDIS calibration requirements mandated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for the Hatteland products. The Hatteland flat-screen liquid-crystal display monitors are used in Sperry Marine's VisionMaster FT series of radars, ECDISs and TotalWatch multifunction workstations.

"With this upgrade, we can now provide the highest level of service for all Hatteland monitors, including ECDIS calibration to meet IMO specifications," said Andrew Fraser, director of worldwide service for Sperry Marine.

The repair activity is defined and supported by a formal service agreement between Sperry Marine and Hatteland.
