If you're a regular user of MS Word consider getting to know some shortcuts with shortcut key combinations. This can save having to move your hand from the keyboard to the mouse to the keyboard on a regular basis.
The most frequently used shortcut keys we use are Ctrl & S. This will save your document - something you should do as often as you think about it to prevent possible loss of work.
The Ctrl key can usually be found at the bottom left hand side of your keyboard.
Other useful shortcuts are:
Ctrl & C = Copy
Ctrl & X = Cut
Ctrl &V = Paste
Ctrl & B = Bold
Ctrl & I = Italics
Ctrl &U = Underline
Ctrl & P = Print
Ctrl & Y = Re-do last action
Ctrl & Z = Undo last action
Ctrl & Home = Go to the beginning of the document
Ctrl & End = Go to the end of the document
There are many more shortcuts you can use to save time. For the full list:
Open Microsoft Word
If you use Word 2003 go to the Tools Menu, Choose Macro, Macros
If you use Word 2007 go to the Developer Ribbon and click on Macros
At the "Macros in" area select from the drop down menu "Word Commands"
From the choices presented select "List Commands" then click "Run"
Choose "Current menu and keyboard settings"
A document with the full list of commands will open with up to nine pages of Word keyboard shortcut keys. Use the ones you like best.
If shortcut keys aren't your cup of tea consider using your right mouse button. This will bring up a few regularly used actions such as copy, cut and paste as well as the formatting menus - font, paragraph, bullets and numbering.
