Alstom upgrades a gas turbine in Taiwan
Turbomachinery International, Jul/Aug 2007
Alstom will upgrade one of the two GT11N2 gas turbines at the Tsung Hsiao power plant in Taiwan to GT11N2 M. The upgrade has an improved turbine blading and combustion chamber. It allows customers to change the operating mode from "more power" to "extended lifetime" during operation any time, but with the same hardware package. Implementation of the upgrade is scheduled for spring 2008.
The 1,800 MW Tung Hsiao power plant features 11 Alstom gas turbines - three GT11Ds, six GT11NMs with two compressor upgrades, and two GT11N2s. The OEM has converted nine of these units to dual-fuel use, including combustor upgrades to the EV burner technology.
