Congress Enacts Broad Energy Plan

Area Development Site and Facility Planning, Aug/Sep 2005

THE NATIONAL Association of Manufacturers praised the recent passage of a long-awaited, comprehensive energy bill by the House and Senate, which will spur job creation and economic growth. The bill aims to reduce U.S. dependence on foreign sources of energy, promote renewable fuels, enhance energy efficiency and conservation, and improve the nation's energy infrastructure.

According to NAM President John Engler, "U.S. manufacturers are faced with the highest energy cost in the world. In order to stay competitive in a global marketplace, we have to fix the structural costs that burden the U.S. economy. This bill is a big step toward that goal."
