3D game teaches car dealers

Volvo dealers are the first in the UK automotive industry to be trained using 3D games based e-learning applications.

North East of England based Caspian Learning and FIMTRAC Training have joined together to supply Volvo Car UK with a series of e-learning applications, branded Knowledge Drive. The Volvo Dealer Network is now using Knowledge Drive to train new and existing employees in areas ranging from Trade Descriptions, Data Protection and Consumer Credit to Financial Product Sales Training and Volvo brand values.

The real time support that the application delivers to the employees enables easy integration into the normal work patterns of the dealer staff. Alan Rennison-Rae, sales manager of Volvo dealer Mill Garages Newcastle said: "The applications are great, they deal with quite hard boring areas in a way that is more interesting and engaging than other training methods. Because you can carry out the training in short sharp hits, it enables the intrusion into selling activities to be very little, which is another huge plus."

Caspian Learning design and build applications that combine best practice in learning and memory research with interactive 3D computer gaming technologies. Graeme Duncan from Caspian Learning, said: "We have created five new 3D training applications for Volvo Car UK covering very difficult, and very different subjects, and we are delighted with the early responses and feedback."
