FBI extends Convera deploy

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has purchased Convera Corporation's Excalibur Web search technology. The FBI has previously deployed RetrievalWare enterprise search solution. Patrick C. Condo, Convera's president and chief executive officer said: "We are very pleased to announce today the extension of a long-standing relationship with the FBI. Convera's ability to create new and dynamic search solutions to meet the ever increasing needs of our law enforcement and intelligence customers remains a priority."

Excalibur uses categoriesof information to understand and organise pages of web content resulting in more relevant and useful answers to search queries. The terms of the FBI deal were not disclosed.
