E.learning Age, Mar 2008

Academee has appointed Alison Tickner as Managing Director of the company's recently launched Asia-Pacific business in Singapore.

The Asia-Pacific operation offers Academee's blended learning services which combine consultancy, face to face learning, and e-learning.

Tickner, previously Academee's Director of Diversity, has already worked extensively in Asia-Pacific and is looking forward to her new role: "The Asia-Pacific region is vast and it is developing at a tremendous rate. Singapore is an ideal gateway to the region and has been recognised by the World Bank ranks as the best place in the world to do business for the past two years."

Academee, which is headquartered in the UK, has created global learning programmes for major companies including The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Intercontinental Hotels Group and Fujitsu Services. Many of Academee's clients are expanding rapidly across Asia-Pacific and will benefit from having access to the company's high-quality people and services across the region.

The pace of change in the region has created a need for learning. Tickner said: "Talent management is a huge challenge. Employers are competing for a finite pool of talent. Learning and development is a key tool for attracting, engaging and retaining people. Individuals want to work for organisations offering opportunities for personal growth and development.

"The Academee AP blended learning approach Is quite unique in Asia-Pacific and we are already working with new clients in the region as well as developing global learning programmes with existing Academee clients."

Academee Managing Director Clare Roberts said: "Alison has been with Academee for four years so she has a clear understanding of our core values and principles and I can't think of a better person to be leading our Asia-Pacific operation. It's a hugely exciting time for the whole team as we see the company expanding into another new region. We've been growing rapidly over the past couple of years and we are excited about our international expansion."
