CAPP Steward of Excellence Awards

Syncrude Canada Limited, ExxonMobil Canada Limited, Quicksilver Resources Canada Inc. (formerly MGV Energy Inc.) and Petro-Canada were honoured in early May during the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers' fifth annual Steward of Excellence Awards.

"Stewardship is the upstream industry's commitment to responsible and balanced development of Canada's oil and gas resources," said Kathy Sendall, CAPP Chair and Senior Vice President, North American Natural Gas, at Petro-Canada. "These award winners epitomize the tremendously innovative strides our industry is taking in the pursuit of continuous improvement in environment, health, safety and social performance."

The four award-winning companies demonstrated: * A systematic approach to improved performance; * Actions above and beyond regulatory performance; * Improved performance across the industry through shared data and best practices.

The following companies were honoured in these specific categories: Environmental Performance - Syncrude Canada Limited (creation of Water Conservation Task Force). Health and Safety Performance -ExxonMobil Canada Limited (formation of Marine Safety Council). Social Performance - Quicksilver Resources Canada Inc. (development of community consultation template). President's Award - Petro-Canada (partnership with City of Edmonton to produce treated wastewater for industrial, municipal and recreational use).
