Proven Rozol® Pocket Gopher Bait - Burrow Builder Formula Now Available for Prairie Dog Control in Texas
Liphatech Inc. has announced its proven Rozol Pocket Gopher Bait - Burrow Builder Formula is now approved for black-tailed prairie dog control in the state of Texas.
Ranchers and farmers have effectively used Rozol to control prairie dogs for a number of years in several states, including Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Wyoming.
Rozol Burrow Builder Formula, a highly palatable and effective rodenticide is a restricted-use product. The Texas Department of Agriculture recently granted the use of the prairie dog bait in Texas through a Special Local Needs (SLN) 24(c) label. The label permits its use by licensed pesticide applicators, or people under their supervision. The Texas label allows usage from October 1 to May 1 of the following year, before green-up of vegetation occurs.
Rozol's high palatability is attributed to its formulation, which combines the anticoagulant chlorophacinone with food-grade winter wheat for excellent acceptance and fast control. When properly applied by placing the bait in all active prairie dog burrows, control typically exceeds 90 percent - leading to fewer repeat applications.
Other features and benefits of Rozol include:
* Ease-of-use: It does not require pre-baiting, and bait can be applied even in wet conditions, unlike zinc phosphide. (Zinc phosphide is an acute toxicant.)
* High bait acceptance: As an anticoagulant, Rozol does not induce bait shyness, or sub-lethal dose problems as with acute toxicants.
* In-burrow consumption: Based on proven studies, prairie dogs eat the bait in their burrows. As such, there is less risk to nontarget wildlife, unlike zinc phosphide, or other anticoagulant products containing diphacinone.
Rozol is placed at least six inches down into the burrows. Treatments can be quickly applied with a baiter unit attached to an ATV. Applications can also be made with a long-handled tablespoon.
Rozol is available in 30-lbs. pail, or 50-lbs. bag. Each pail yields 280 one-quarter cup burrow treatments, covering on average 10 to 12 acres of typical prairie dog infestations.
Each bag offers 466 one-quarter cup treatments, covering on average 17 to 20 acres. The readily available antidote is Vitamin Kl.
Headquartered in Milwaukee, Liphatech Inc. offers a comprehensive line of rodenticides. In adadition to Rozol, rodenticides tailored to agricultural and animal health markets include Hombre(TM), BootHill®, and Gunslinger(TM).
The company also offers AEGIS® bait stations, including AEGIS-RP tamper-resistant station to prevent block-bait access by non-target animals and people, or the AEGIS-RP non-locking, for less-sensitive bait placement locations.
Check with http://www.liphatech.com, or contact your local department of agriculture, for the latest information, as labels may change.
