Schneider Logistics to award scholarships in China
Corporate Report Wisconsin, May 2008
WITH CHINA'S CONTINUING EXPANSION of exports into the U.S., the importance of transportation and logistics increases each year. Schneider Logistics of Green Bay is taking a proactive approach to educating Chinese business students of that importance with its scholarship program at Tsinghua University in Beijing.
Schneider, an international logistics provider, intends to offer scholarships to outstanding students in that field. The program will have a span of three to five years, and several students will be awarded scholarships annually. According to Schneider, logistics account for 21% of the gross domestic product of China.
"Committed logistics professionals continue to lead the world in driving down costs, enhancing end user value and freeing up capital for investment and economic growth," says Schneider National CEO Christopher Lofgren. "Through establishing these scholarships together with Tsinghua University, Schneider is honored to be able to make a contribution to the economy of China."
On a visit to the university in March, Lofgren announced the program with Tsinghua University's Industrial Engineering Department Dean Zheng Li.
