Firm processes student loans

Signal, Jun 1998

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and Department of Education have transferred student loan processing tasks to a U.S. company's virtual data center. Under GSA's virtual data center services contract, Computer Sciences Corporation, Falls Church, Virginia, is migrating the Education Department's national student loan data system to an off-site location to provide more cost-effective, productive operations.

The national student loan data system provides critical support to the Education Department and to some 6,000 schools and guaranty agencies that rely on loan information. Officials forecast that savings under the outsourced data center operation could exceed $12 million during the first years.
