Capt. Gregory L Gough, USAF * Middle Georgia Chapter

Capt. Gregory L. Gough, USAF, is a systems engineer for the U.S. Air Force Distributed Common Ground System, Air Force Materiel Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. The captain entered the service as a ground radio communications specialist in May 1992 and was commissioned through the Air Force Officer Training School in May 2002. As an officer, Capt. Gough served the U.S. Joint Forces Command as a systems engineer, flight commander, deputy of squadron operations, task force commander, systems control officer and squadron rear-detachment commander. He has supported operations Allied Force, Southern Watch and Iraqi Freedom III and will be deploying in early 2007 to support the Global War on Terrorism.

Capt. Gough has been a key member of the team formed to revitalize the Middle Georgia Chapter. He has provided leadership and helped to establish and staff a provisional chapter board of directors. The captain stepped forward in April 2006 to volunteer as chapter vice president of scholarships and education. He developed a scholarships and education program for the chapter, which included compiling a list of local school district contacts, creating a program plan and developing a budget for Science Teaching Tools awards, science fair awards and scholarships for a variety of students. He also reactivated the chapter's involvement with the Future Scientists and Engineers of America.

In addition, the captain organized a committee to host a golf tournament in October 2006. This successful event raised $1,300 for scholarships and education programs. Capt. Gough accomplished this while fulfilling several temporary duty assignments.

The association proudly awards the AFGHAN of the Month pin to Capt. Gregory L. Gough, USAF, for his dedication to promoting education and to renewing the Middle Georgia Chapter. He has made great strides in his efforts to support AFCEA International through education enrichment and scholarship opportunities.
