Capt. William Greg McCulley, USAF * Vandenberg Chapter

Capt. William Greg McCuIley, USAF, is the flight commander for the 614th Space Communications Operations Flight, Joint Space Operations Center (JSOC), 14th Air Force, Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. The flight is key to the defensive counterspace process for guarding against electromagnetic interference on U.S. Defense Department and commercial satellite assets.

The captain enlisted in the Air Force in 1991 and was commissioned at the Air Force Officer Training School. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in computer science and also holds a master's degree in applied aerospace studies. While at the JSOC, Capt. McCulley deployed to the Gulf Coast region in support of hurricane relief operations. He was the sole communications representative on the director of space forces' staff. This spring, Capt. McCulley is deploying to Iraq.

Chapter leaders relate that Capt. McCulley is an outstanding example of leadership in action and that his efforts have had a profound impact on the chapter. In addition to serving as the Young AFCEAN representative, the captain carried out the duties of the chapter's president during her absence. He led the chapter through a kickoff Tech Expo and luncheon and a chapter TechNet luncheon. While spearheading both events, he also mentored several potential Young AFCEANs.

With the help of his leadership and enthusiasm, the chapter was awarded the Albert J. Myer Total Individual Membership Growth and Achievement awards in 2006. The captain himself was honored as the 2006 Regional Distinguished Young AFCEAN for the Western Region.

The association proudly awards the AFCEAN of the Month pin to Capt. William Greg McCulley, USAF, for guiding and supporting the Vandenberg Chapter and serving the nation.
