Air Force Online Career Tracking

Signal, Dec 2007

The U.S. Air Force has launched its Airman Development Plan (ADP) capability, offering it through the Virtual Personnel Services Center. The ADP is an online career planning tool that helps officers map their career development plan.

Officers can specify their top choices for assignments and detail whether they want to be considered for advanced professional military education or as commanders. Once officers complete their ADPs, they can forward them to a mentor or reviewer prior to the usual process chain to receive additional comments and review before their ADPs reach the Air Force Personnel Center. The ADP sends e-mail notifications to specified recipients rather than relying on telephone updates. The ADP can be sent to an officer's regular review chain and goes automatically to the senior rater.

In early 2008, the ADP will expand to include use by Air Force civilians. The enlisted airmen's equivalent, called My Enlisted Development Plan, is scheduled for incorporation later in 2008.
