Smith has been an active member of the Dayton-Wright Chapter since the winter of 2006. He began volunteering to support chapter activities almost as soon as he received his membership. Smith served on the Valentine's Ball committee, helping with dinner planning and set up, and also assisted with the event's silent auction. With his contributions, the event generated more than $7,000 for the chapter's scholarship fund. He also supported the chapter as a volunteer for the Military Appreciation Social Hospitality Bash (MASH Bash), the chapter's annual membership appreciation and recruitment event, and worked on the membership drive and member recognition raffle. During this year's InfoTech 2007 conference and trade show, Smith supported the chapter vice president for membership by coordinating a trade show booth that highlighted AFCEA membership benefits. The event attracted more than 2,000 participants from industry and government and raised more than $40,000 for the chapter's education fund. Smith is currently working in collaboration with his company on a project with the chapter educational taskforce committee and local universities to set up events to increase young AFCEAN student membership. With his support of key events, the Dayton-Wright Chapter was recognized for the 12th year in a row as AFCEA International Model Chapter of the Year for its community-focused programs and chapter member involvement.
Smith graduated with his MBA in business marketing in 2006 from Wright State University. He is an outstanding example of AFCEA membership participation-an intense team player and a devoted supporter of the association. AFCEA International proudly recognizes Jeremy Smith, Dayton-Wright Chapter, as AFCEAN of the Month for his outstanding service to AFCEA and the local community.
