LINWOOD-based equipment supplier IT Xchange is carving itself a profitable niche by breathing new life into discontinued IT hardware products. And as the time between new versions of products shortens, the prospects for the Canadian firm improve.
IT Xchange has its European HQ at an 18,000sqft facility in Linwood and sells discontinued computer hardware parts.
The company buys up stock from manufacturers once a new version is introduced and sells the peripherals and add-ons to existing users of major hardware pieces of hardware such as servers.
IT Xchange director of business development Alex Munro is a former employee of IBM, which is the firm's major client.
The Scottish arm of the company earns margins of around 20-per cent on revenues of pounds-3 million, said Munro. It employs 12 people but is looking to expand its European business to the size of its US operation.
