Hunter draws world experts to conference CONFIRMED: SPEAKERS

FIVE world experts have now confirmed they will attend a conference being organised by Sir Tom Hunter this month.

Later this month Hunter, whose personal wealth is estimated to be around GBP750 million, will hold a high-profile talks in Glasgow to discuss five key areas in which he believes Scotland could become global leaders.

The entrepreneur and philanthropist wants tourism, education, biotechnology, financial services and alternative energy to become part of a "constructive plan to adopt for Scotland".

The experts addressing the conference are Ian Marchant, chief executive of Scottish and Southern, who will speak on renewable energy; Lord Dennis Stevens, chairman of HBOS; Simon Anholt, a government adviser on tourism; Vartan Gregorian, president of the Carnegie Foundation of New York, an expert on education opportunities; and Sir Christopher Evans, chair of Merlin Biosciences.

Ewan Hunter, spokesman for Sir Tom, said: "We want to talk about Scotland's opportunity to lead the world in what we're calling a 'new enlightenment'."
