SHARES in Aggreko slumped almost 5per cent amid fears that weakness in the US economy might impact on the Glasgow-based temporary power supplier's other dollar-dominated business. Chief executive Rupert Soames told shareholders that the weak US dollar had seen it lose GBP5.9 million of trading profi t last year.

All the same, the company last month reported a 51per cent increase in 2007 pre-tax profi t to GBP124.2m and business has grown in the fi rst three months of 2008. Soames said he expected strong demand from international projects. Shares closed at 595p.
