He loved people, lived life to the full, displaying great zest and energy in all that he did and was remarkably successful in infecting others with his enthusiasm. He will be missed locally for the paternalistic eye he kept on village affairs and elsewhere, not least for the flamboyance and colour that he brought to the art of living.
Francis John Vernon Hereward Dashwood, landowner and insurance underwriter; born 7 August 1925; succeeded 1966 as 11th Bt; married 1957 Victoria de Rutzen (died 1976; one son, three daughters), 1977 Marcella Frye (nee Scarafia; one stepson); died West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire 9 March 2000.
