The Donmar Warehouse's first collaboration outside of its own Earlham Street venue is this revival by the theatre's artistic director, Michael Grandage, of Frank Loesser's magnificent New York- set musical, based on Damon Runyon's 'The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown'. Ewan McGregor, making his first appearance in the West End since 1999, stars as Sky Masterson, who takes a $1,000 bet from fellow gambler Nathan Detroit (Douglas Hodge) that he can't make the next woman he sees fall in love with him " the woman turns out to be a Christian missionary (Jenna Russell) on the lookout for sinners to reform. Among the other Dolls are Detroit's girlfriend (Ally McBeal's Jane Krakowski), who is trying to make him settle down. As the song says, 'More I cannot wish you'.
