Ford chief Polites dies aged 60

*Geoff Polites, the chief executive of Jaguar and Land Rover who engineered the sale of the marques to Tata Motors of India last month, died yesterday. He was 60. The Australian executive took over as head of Ford's British luxury car brands in 2005. In a statement, Ford credited Mr Polites with turning around the troubled brands. He died after battling a "serious illness" for two years, the company said.
