*More signs that the economic slowdown is hitting airlines emerged as BA and Ryanair said their flights were less full than last year. Although Ryanair carried 15 per cent more passengers last month than it did in April 2007, thanks to new routes, its "load factor" fell from 83 per cent to 79 per cent over the year. The news sent shares in the Irish carrier down by 7 per cent. BA's shares fell 4 per cent as it blamed the chaotic opening of Heathrow's Terminal 5 and a slump in economy-class travel from the US for its passenger numbers falling by 7 per cent in April. BA's load factor fell 5.1 per cent at 71.6 per cent.
