*A battalion commander shot in Afghanistan has become one of the highest ranking British soldiers injured in the conflict. Lt-Col David Richmond, 41, commanding officer of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg during fighting in Helmand Province on Thursday. He was leading his troops against the Taliban near Musa Qala.
