Anheuser to reject InBev's $46bn offer
Independent, The (London), Jun 26, 2008
Business News IN BRIEF
*Anheuser-Busch, brewer of Budweiser beer, will reject the $46bn (23bn) bid from Belgian giant InBev, and instead set out a plan to cut costs and sell its non-brewing businesses, it was reported last night. Anheuser hopes to persuade shareholders it can create more value in the long run than InBev's offer, pitched this month at a 30 per cent premium to the prevailing share price. InBev said it has lined up commitments to fund the deal from 10 banks, and is said to be plan-ning to take a hostile bid directly to Anheuser shareholders.
