*BIRMINGHAM CITY Alex McLeish has failed in an attempt to bring Jan Koller to St Andrew's. The Championship side agreed a fee with Nuremberg weeks ago, but the 35-year-old decided to join the Russian club Krylya Sovetov Samara in a reported 40,000-a-week deal. "We did try for Jan Koller," McLeish said. "But he chose a massive offer in Russia, which we couldn't compete with."
