Borges to lead hedge funds watchdog

Independent, The (London),  Jun 27, 2008

Business News IN BRIEF

*Antonio Borges, a former dean of the business school Insead and a senior banker at Goldman Sachs, has been appointed chairman of the Hedge Fund Standards Board from 1 July. The HFSB was formed to oversee a code of practice devised by the Hedge Fund Working Group. One of Mr Borges's first challenges will be to get more hedge funds to sign up to the standards. So far, only one firm outside the 14 original signatories has signed up to the code. If the industry fails to back the voluntary standards then politicians and regulators may step in to force formal rules on them, analysts warn.
