Independent, The (London), Jul 3, 2008
Home News IN BRIEF
*An NHS dentist has vowed to keep fixing teeth for the next three months despite landing a 1m record deal as an operatic tenor. Andrew Bain, 34, a locum in north London, was signed by Sony BMG after he sent in a demo tape containing his interpretation of the Prince hit "Purple Rain". His first album, out in September, is a collection of pop covers including "Life On Mars" by David Bowie, "How Soon Is Now?" by The Smiths and "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol. He said: "[Sony] understand my eclectic taste. Who needs yet another version of 'Nessun Dorma'?"
