Letter: Traumatised by assault
Independent on Sunday, The, Nov 24, 2002
Severin Carrell's article about Janet Cresswell ("The Forgotten", Focus, 17 November) said her crime was to "go for her psychiatrist's buttocks with a vegetable knife". The victim, my father-in-law, was in fact stabbed seven times by Mrs Cresswell in a premeditated attack. Two wounds, to the abdomen, perforated his colon. He needed emergency surgery and was close to death. His buttocks were stabbed when he turned away to protect himself. The attack has left him traumatised. There seems no evidence that Mrs Cresswell feels any remorse.
