Discs Etc: off-the-peg drum'n'bass HHIII Shy FX & T-Power Set It Off

Independent on Sunday, The,  Nov 24, 2002  by Laurence Phelan

I don't begrudge Shy FX, or especially T-Power, their success - "Shake Ur Body" was the biggest drum'n'bass hit ever and is a ubiquitous mobile ringtone right now. It's just a pity that it's come from by far their most anodyne and formulaic project to date. Set It Off features 10 other identikit tracks, in which the most common Latin hooks are set to drum'n'bass, and then some session vocalist, a dancehall toaster or Kele le Roc sings over the top.

None of them will chart as highly as "Shake Ur Body", which I fear most people outside of the drum'n'bass fraternity just thought of as a novelty record. Laurence Phelan
