INSIDE LINES: Sweetenham bullying claims will be found 'unwarranted'

Bill Sweetenham, the abrasive Aussie who is British swimming's performance director, will be given the go-ahead to carry on coaching the national team when the report into his alleged 'bullying' of young swimmers is made public later this month. Chief executive David Sparkes says Sweetenham (pictured) is currently on holiday in Australia studying the findings of a thorough investigation carried out by a former police chief, but I understand that specific allegations reported by the former table-tennis player Matthew Syed in The Times have been repudiated by the swimmers involved.
The report will say these were 'unwarranted'. Sweetenham has now enlisted a former Aussie coach, Don Talbot, as a special adviser.
