The climate debate may rage, but it has done nothing to sate the appetite of airlines for new planes. Last week saw a raft of orders, the biggest of which was a massive $16bn ([pound]8bn) request by Qatar Airways for 80 of Airbus's new A350 XWB. The model is the struggling European group's answer to Boeing's wildly successful 787 Dreamliner. Even so, Airbus is still being beaten nearly two to one on firm orders for new planes this year.
