Kosovo Serbs hold peaceful protests
Several thousand Serbs chanting "Russia, Vladimir Putin!" and "Kosovo is Serbia!" protested peacefully in the ethnically divided Kosovo town of Mitrovica yesterday as Serbia's Prime Minister, Vojislav Kostunica, condemned the US and other nations that recognised Kosovo's independence. The US began withdrawing diplomats' families after rioters attacked the US embassy in Belgrade on Thursday, but Slobodan Samardzic, Serbia's minister for Kosovo, said: "The US is the main culprit ... for all those violent acts."
