Various Artists I Like It Like That FANIA/MR BONGO

Wiseguy-related NYC label Fania was the Seventies home of "salsa", a new appellation for Afro-Cuban or Nuyorican music that became the disco-era soundtrack for serious dancers and groovers. This double CD dedicated to Fania's legendary and long-unavailable 12-inch singles offers one disc of remixed versions (4Hero, Nicola Conte, Quantic etc) and a companion volume of the untampered-with originals. Most of the remixes pall rather quickly, but the classics remain an absolute delight from start to finish, with Hector Lavoe's "Mi Gente" a particular treat.
