Southall Black Sisters sue council over funding
Independent on Sunday, The, Jul 13, 2008
:: CHARITY
An internationally respected domestic violence charity will mount a legal challenge at the High Court in London on Thursday in an attempt to reverse a funding decision that threatens its future. Southall Black Sisters has worked with black and ethnic minority women victims of violence for nearly 30 years. It helps vulnerable women who may be at risk of forced marriage or honour killings. It is challenging a decision by Ealing council, which says generic domestic violence services are better placed to meet the Government's cohesion agenda.
